Sad News Everyone.

Wander Over Yonder is not being renewed for a third season.

Many have actually been aware of this for awhile, as some various rumors and gossip have been floating around.  Namely one story of a friend of a friend of our site was at a convention recently that had Craig McCracken as a guest of honor, and I guess somewhere he kind of spilled the beans.  A few months prior to that we became aware that Lauren Faust (also at another convention) had made mention that she wasn’t working on Wander either.  But of course we waited until something official dropped, which was today via Craig McCracken’s Tumblr.  As he points out, they knew before Season 2 started that Wander was over with.

I’ve been seeing a lot of speculation lately on whether or not Wander will be returning for a 3rd season. Unfortunately, the answer is no.

About a year ago we presented a pitch for a season 3 arc that promised to bring our characters together in new, unexpected, and hilarious ways. And just as S2 evolved from S1, we had a really exciting approach to evolving S3 even further. We had plans for new characters, the return of old characters, and even a bit of backstory! We were all really excited about the new direction and so were our bosses at DisneyXD and TVA.

Unfortunately, the higher up bosses of bosses of bosses at Disney decided not to continue with the show. It’s not that they didn’t like Wander, they just felt that 2 seasons and 80 cartoons was enough and they didn’t see the need to produce any more.

For the record, this decision had nothing to do with the ratings performance of S2. Truth be told, we were informed that we wouldn’t be continuing before S2 even premiered.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the fans who spread the word about Wander and encouraged people to try and watch it on air.

I know this news is kind of a bummer, but the recent surge in fandom from My Fair Hatey along with our win at the Annie’s for Outstanding Children’s Series has really made me and the whole Wander team feel that we are ending on a high note!

So thanks, and as Wander says…

We gave it a go,

put on a heck of a show,

and did a lot of fun stuff we’ll get to laugh about after!

And for those keeping track we have 7 half hours left of S2 that will wrap up sometime in June.

Thanks for watchin’ and wanderin’!

Craig

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end.

On a semi-related note, we’ve had a few people ask us what we planned on replacing these now “done” shows with.  As it stands half our coverage is packing it in this year.  The short answer is that we really do not know.  There are plenty of shows starting in the next year and a half, but we’re also weighing in on the fact that we’re having troubles providing basic coverage for the shows that we did have.  Our staff has shrunk down over the past two years and we lack writers and reporters.  So we might just operate on 3 shows, which we will probably do anyways while watching the animation landscape for something new.  Suggestions are welcomed.

And so another of the few worthy modern shows comes to an end, and of My calculations Will be correct MLP Will be the next one…. Modern animation is slowly collapsing, and there’s nothing we can do about it… I’m not surprised you didn’t find anything worthy to replace those shows, simply because there isn’t, at least For now. The only ones that MIGHT be worthy are Milo Murphy’s Law and Big Hero 6, and those won’t even start before 2017… So yeah this is the situation guys. Desperated is an understatement….

Man, that horrible news went down like a turd sandwich. The best animated show in the universe and it gets the ax. It felt like it was just getting started, too. Hopefully, whoever it was that made such a ludicrously ill-advised decision will see the error of their ways in time and renew the series.

oh well, time to sell it to other station…

  • AZuel Star

Incredible shows that remember, think if you could put series like Miraculous Ladybug, The Loud House or The Amazing World of Gumball
Incredible effort who are dedicated to Derpy News, Keep it up guys :D

Well, that’s just great. More TV shows collapsing. What stinks is that it’s only had two seasons in three years. Just great, Disney. Just great…
